Good Day Love! Today I am going to talk about the holiday of:
Thanksgiving, celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November since 1941, has been an annual tradition in the United States by presidential proclamation since 1863 and by state legislation since the Founding Fathers of the United States. Traditionally, Thanksgiving has been a celebration of the blessings of the year, including the harvest. On Thanksgiving Day, it is common for we Americans to share a family meal and view special sporting events (like Football).
In addition, Thanksgiving is celebrated in public places with parades such as Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in New York City, The Dunkin' Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade in Philadelphia, America's Hometown Thanksgiving Parade in Plymouth, Massachusetts, and McDonald's Thanksgiving Parade in Chicago. For us the "Holiday Season" generally begins with Thanksgiving. The first day after Thanksgiving Day—Black Friday—marks the start of the Christmas shopping season.
This is a photograph from our family's Thanksgiving Day in 2015. Now years later, there are many more people attending.
Food is a big part of the celebration! People bring corn, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cranberry spreads, and of course Turkey! The cuisine is usually Fall-themed because the holiday represents the harvest period. A big meal before winter begins.
We all crowd into a small house with the "Grown-ups" dining upstairs, and the "kids" eating downstairs. I still am eating downstairs haha.
After eating, most of us get together to play a classic game of (American) Football. We don't tackle each other though If someone tags you with two hands, it is considered a tackle so people don't get hurt. It can get pretty conpetitive each year and the teams are usually balanced.
One of my cousins warming up for the big game of the day. Hopefully it will be good weather this year.
If the conditions are right, usually a "hay ride" happens. All the younger kids enjoy being pulled around in the tractor. Actually, older people like it as well haha.
A bit of countryside off-roading 😂
I hope that you enjoy some good food today!
