Willem van Hillegaersbergstraat 4B · 3051 RJ Rotterdam · Netherlands

Hello love (I like it when you call me love so I do it back),

Every morning, when I wake up I get excited. Because I know there is a new letter waiting for me. Every day I start my day with a nice surprise from the other side of the ocean which make me smile. I really enjoy reading your letters. Now it is time to write you a letter. Since I know where you are from it is time that you know where I grew up.

I hope you enjoy it!

(I don't know how I can make this picture smaller) My dad, little Janna and my aunt.

Brielle

(same story)

Brielle, also known as Den Briel is a fortfied town and it was a pelgrimage site and was founded in the 12th centry.

It has a bit more than 13.700 inhabitants. During the eighty years war between the Netherlands and Spain, the capture of Brielle on April 1, 1572, by protestant rebels, the watergeuzen, marked a turning point in the conflict, as many towns in Holland then began to support Willem van Oranje (killed in Delft) against the Spanish duke of Alba who was sent to pacify The Netherlands. This event is still celebrated each year on April 1th. People get dressed in costumes from the 16th centry and in several places in the town people reenact history (and get drunk). The night before known as kalknacht when the city is defaced with chalk. For people who are visiting the city and don't know what is happing this is very weird. The idea is that you write something funny of the window of your neighbours or friends. There are quite a lot historical building in the town like a church from th 13th centry and and synagoge from the 19th centry.

Voorne-Putten: fijn en betaalbaar wonen voor starters en gezinnen ...
(the same with this picture)

It is a cute small quite toeristy town with shops, a port, a museum, some restaurants and a hotel. Brielle is next to the river de Brielse Maas and not far away from the dunes and the beach. It is also near Eurport (an industrial and port area in the port of Rotterdam) and de Maasvlakte 1 and Maasvlakte 2 (a massive man-made westward extension of Europoort port).

So far some information from the town I grew up. If you have questions, let met know!
